Reflections by ICMC Secretary General

GENEVA 21 July 2009 - The new encyclical, Caritas in Veritate<, embeds the migration issue in the request for a fundamental change in mentality, calling for a rights-based approach and inviting all to reconsider the link between justice, truth and charity.

ICMC Secretary General, Johan Ketelers, contends that migration needs to be understood in the broadest possible context, including the many aspects of global development and global governance, international trade and today's financial crisis, sovereignty and political power, ethics, faith and a better understanding of the common good.

ICMC is pleased to read how Caritas in Veritate<, in a visionary way, strongly invites us to think differently, inviting us to contribute to building another, more global and human, world. Indeed, it is not about immediate solutions, but rather about a road towards better humanity.
