UN Committee on Migrant Workers

GENEVA 25 April 2007 - At the sixth session of the UN Committee on Migrant Workers, ICMC delivered a response to the first report submitted to the UN Committee on Migrant Workers by Ecuador, emphasizing the rights of migrant families.

ICMC shares questions and concerns generated an analysis of the report from Ecuador, which includes the perspectives and experiences of ICMC Members and partners working directly with migrants and their families on the ground in Ecuador and around the world.

The statement focuses on Convention rights and obligations towards both non-Ecuadorian migrant workers and members of their families in Ecuador; as well as Ecuadorian migrant workers and members of their families living abroad. ICMC calls attention, not only to the rights of migrants, but also to the Ecuadorian government's obligations to them under the Migrant Workers' Convention.
