UN Committee on Migrant Workers
GENEVA 1 November 2006 - ICMC responds to the first report submitted by Egypt to the UN Committee on Migrant Workers, emphasizing the rights of migrant families. ICMC shares questions and concerns generated by an analysis of the report from Egypt, which include the perspectives and experiences of ICMC Members and partners working directly with migrants and their families on the ground in Egypt and around the world. The statement focusses on Convention rights and obligations towards both non-Egyptian migrant workers and members of their families in Egypt, as well as Egyptian migrant workers and members of their families living abroad. ICMC calls attention, not only to the rights of migrants, but also to the Egyptian government's obligations to them under the Migrant Workers' Convention. no |
