4th Session UN Committee on Migrant Workers

GENEVA 25 April 2006 - At the fourth session of the UN Committee on Migrant Workers, ICMC delivered a response to the first report submitted by the government of Mexico, emphasizing the rights of migrant families.

ICMC shares questions and concerns generated an analysis of the report from the government of Mexico, which includes the perspectives and experiences of ICMC Members and partners working directly with migrants and their families on the ground in Mexico and around the world.

The statement focuses on Convention rights and obligations towards both non-Mexican migrant workers and members of their families in Mexico; as well as Mexican migrant workers and members of their families living abroad. ICMC calls attention, not only to the rights of migrants, but also to the Mexican government's obligations to them under the Migrant Workers' Convention.
