A FRESH START … facilitating refugee resettlement from Turkey and the Middle East to the United States… For over 60 years the International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC) has served hundreds of thousands of refugees from around the world. The resettlement of refugees from countries of first asylum to the United States has been at the heart of ICMC’s activities since its creation. At the crossroads between Asia and Europe, ICMC-Turkey and Middle East has delivered services on behalf of refugees of more than 30 nationalities from Africa, the Middle East, East Asia, Europe and Eastern Europe. ICMC Turkey and the Middle East is a proud partner of the US Department of State’s Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (PRM) and operates a Resettlement Support Center (RSC) from its office in Istanbul. ICMC’s RSC has a sub-office in Lebanon and also processes cases through regular missions to Kuwait, Yemen and the United Arab Emirates. ICMC’s RSC serves people from different nationalities, the majority of whom are from Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia and Sudan. The religious and cultural diversity of the people served includes Christians, Muslims, Iranian Bahá’is, at risk Afghan women, men and children, members of the LGBT community and political dissidents. ICMC’s RSC assists with special case processing that includes a program for Iranian Bahá’is, Special Immigrant Visas (SIV) for Iraqi nationals who worked for or on behalf of the United States and Visa 93 follow-to-join refugee family visas. ICMC’s RSC carries out its work on behalf of refugees in partnership with many government and non-governmental agencies. Partners include multinational organizations like UNHCR, US Embassies, CARITAS, IOM, USCCB, and numerous local agencies.
