UN Committee on Migrant Workers

GENEVA 21 April 2007 - At the eighth session of the UN Migrant Workers' Committee, ICMC delivered a response to the first report submitted to the UN Committee on Migrant Workers by El Salvador, emphasizing the rights of migrant families.

ICMC shares questions and concerns generated an analysis of the report from El Salvador, which includes the perspectives and experiences of ICMC Members and partners working directly with migrants and their families on the ground in El Salvador and around the world.

The statement focuses on Convention rights and obligations towards both non-Salvadoran migrant workers and members of their families in El Salvador; as well as Salvadoran migrant workers and members of their families living abroad. ICMC calls attention not only to the rights of migrants, but also to El Salvador's obligations to them under the Migrant Workers' Convention.
