The new encyclical embeds the migration issue in the request for a fundamental change in mentality, calling for a rights-based approach and inviting all to reconsider the link between justice, truth and charity. The Pope argues that charity is at the heart of the Church’s social doctrine where every responsibility and every commitment spelt out by that doctrine is derived from love.
