UN General Assembly
In statements presented at the UN on 9, 14 and 16 January by the Permanent Representative of the Holy See in New York and Geneva, the Holy See called for an immediate end to the violence in Gaza, and for the protection of civilians on all sides. In particular, a call was made for the respect of international humanitarian law on the protection of civilians on all sides-including in Gaza large numbers of refugees and children-from both deliberate and indiscriminate attack. The Holy See points to this latest outbreak as a clear sign of the need to address root causes of the enduring conflict in the region and discern new approaches to peace. Statement by H.E.
