Jordan ICMC, UNHCR offer regional resettlement training

AMMAN, 6 December 2007 (ICMC) — ICMC's Resettlement Deployment Scheme and UNHCR's Resettlement Section co-organized a training workshop in Amman, Jordan focusing on refugee protection and resettlement. This workshop, which took place from 3-6 December, targeted 12 ICMC deployees and 22 UNHCR staff members who are mainly working in the Middle East region on the provision of protection, community services and resettlement to the displaced Iraqi caseload in that region. UNHCR Amman informed us that, thanks to the hard work of ICMC deployees, that office was able to achieve its goal of submitting 20,000 cases to the USA this year. Other deployees and UNHCR staff shared their experiences of working in the field and the particular challenges facing them. Overall, the workshop proved to be a fruitful forum for discussion and cross-fertilization of ideas. Below are some photos of the training session:
