GENEVA, 25 FEBRUARY 2014 – Following the announcement of new arrangements in the economic and administrative affairs of the Vatican the Holy Father has appointed H.E. George Cardinal Pell of Sydney, Australia as the Prefect for the newly created Secretariat of the Economy.

The Cardinal leaves behind an Archdiocese that has largely extended its work in recent years; including, two vibrant seminaries, two Catholic seminaries, nearly 70,000 students and extensive programs for tertiary students, young people and families.

His Eminence George Cardinal Pell has also been an active member of the ICMC Council and Governing Committee for the past five years. His managerial vision and close monitoring of financial issues have served ICMC well. Elected as the treasurer of the organization in 2009, His Eminence has always insisted upon transparency and clarity in the accounts to be used as wisely as possible and on behalf of those in need.

With this year's 25 million US$ budget ICMC contributes to the well being of refugees and migrants through a dynamic combination of refugee resettlement, international policy-building, humanitarian relief and community-based programming. In this work, ICMC has established a solid reputation among it's members, partners, donors and beneficiaries alike.
