From Indonesia: ICMC Led Alamsyah's Life Back on TrackACEH August 29, 2006 - Like many other tsunami survivors, Alamsyah was particularly concerned about his livelihood after the catastrophic disaster. But after attending ICMC business awareness and business planning training by ICMC's Income Generation (IG) program, partly funded by ECHO, Alamsyah is getting his life back on track. He's even helping those worse off than himself. ICMC supported Alamsyah with rambutan seedlings to sell and make profit from. He now reinvests his profits into buying more stalks, and in the evenings he works as a warehouse security guard in the Meunasah Mesjid ADB warehouse. As part of the IG program's exchange scheme, Alamsyah helps support the daily needs of Junelis, a 7-year-old orphan from Meunasah Mesjid Leupung. The IG exchange scheme asks beneficiaries to support other tsunami victims when their individual livelihood activities have succeeded. According to IG Program Manager, Alamsyah is just one example of how ECHO's funding is enabling ICMC through its IG program to reach out to those in need, and help them get their lives back on track.
